There is no airport in Giti. The nearest airport is in Kalamata — operates only in summer and receives charter flights from abroad.
From Kalamata you can travel to Gitti by bus (via Sparti) or by rental car.
Athens Airport receives multiple flights throughout the year. From Athens, you can reach Giti by bus (via Sparti) from Kifisos KTEL station.

Ferry travel
Kissamos (Crete) → Kythera → Gythio
The port of Gitio is small and serves several ferry connections. There are ferries from the port Kissamos on the west Crete, via Kithira i Antikythera.
This ferry operates during all year round, 3 times a week, and connects the Peloponnese with Crete.

Traveling by bus
Athens → Sparta → Gythio
You can travel from Athens to Giti by bus KTEL over Spartia, from Kifisos bus station.
From Kalamata there are also bus connections to Giti, again with a transfer at Sparta.

Traveling by car
Athens → Tripoli → Sparti → Gitio · ~270 km
From Athens take the national highway to Corinth, pass Corinth Canal, then take the highway to Tripoli, then along the main road to Spartia and further to Giti.
After Tripoli, the road is not a highway — a highway with one lane in each direction. From Sparta to Gyti is about 40 km.

How to get to Giti

Gitio lies on the east coast of the Mani Peninsula, on Laconian Gulf, around 270 km from Athens and everything 40 km from Sparta.

  • By car: Athens → Corinth → Tripoli → Sparta → Gitio. After Tripoli, the highway ends and the main road continues with one lane in each direction, so expect slower driving.
  • By bus: KTEL lines depart from Kifissos station in Athens, with a transfer in Sparta.
  • By plane: the nearest airport is in Kalamata, which operates only in summer and receives charter flights. Athens has flights throughout the year.
  • By ferry: Gythio has a small port with a connection to Kissamos in western Crete, via Kythira and Antikythira, three times a week throughout the year.
